Be in Solidarity - Lend a House, Gift a Home
Helping is the antidote to helplessness
You have an opportunity to change lives. Your own, and those of a family in our community.
If you have a house, cottage, granny flat, apartment, cabin, tiny house, other livable space in the Rogue Valley that you could lend, your entire community will benefit! If you know someone else who may have access to extra space, please consider sharing with them about this opportunity to stand in solidarity.
The LTSST team is sourcing community housing shares that offer longer term stays - three to six months or a year.
This provides enough time for families who lost everything in the fire with a home to settle into, a space to de-stress and release the trauma of the fire, nurture their children through their fire anxiety and nightmares and help our valued community members remain a part of our community.
If you have a space that you are open to offering, please contact us. We would love to speak with you about possibilities. If you are not able to offer a space for free, please contact us anyway. In some cases, families are able to pay a reasonable rent themselves or through LTSST Housing's financial solidarity opportunities.
Our team is able to offer support through the entire process to be sure everyone involved has what they need and the amount of support they want. The LTSST housing team includes fluent Spanish speakers who engage with the 'host family' and the 'receiving family.' Their role is focused on developing a trusted relationship and supporting an easeful transition that is equity minded, culturally respectful and trauma and grief conscious and capable. We will support every step of the way to ensure that all parties are treated with respect, dignity and compassion. There are branches of our team dedicated to all aspects of the process from making the initial match to "feathering the nest" to ongoing support. And, together, we are creating the world our hearts know is possible.
Soon, we will share stories from other community members who have opened their living spaces.
If you are ready to tell us about your space, it is very helpful, (even if you are still in your decision making process), to collect all the information at once.
